Our Mission

Spread Adventure is focused on getting more women out on the trails with guided hiking, mountain biking, and outdoor personal training in the St. Louis area.

About the Guide

Owner and lead guide Shaila Korte was not born athletic or adventurous. In grade school, she was one of the last kids to finish the mile run in gym class and never went camping because of her fear of bugs. In middle school, one of her best friends introduced her to snowboarding and the spark for adventure started from there. She moved to the west coast after college and spent all of her free time rock climbing, hiking, mountaineering, and snowboarding. Once returning to St. Louis, she realized that there is a large network of trails in the area but only a small niche population that uses them. Shaila is passionate about spreading adventure and encouraging more women to exercise and breathe fresh air on the trails vs. in a cramped and stuffy gym. She removes the intimidation factor of outdoor activities and dismisses the excuses ("I'll get lost" or "but I'm not in shape!") by starting with the basics and safely selecting terrain options. Shaila is an encouraging and patient guide with a list of credentials to give you the confidence that you're in safe hands:

  • Certified Wilderness First Responder - National Outdoor Leadership School (2016)

  • Certified in Adult/Child CPR, AED & Airway Management - National Outdoor Leadership School (2016)

  • Certified in Outdoor Emergency Care (2016)

  • Ski Patroller - Hidden Valley Ski Patrol in Wildwood, Missouri (2016 - Present)

  • Snowboard Instructor - Snoqualmie Ski Resort in Snoqualmie, Washington (2014)
